born for leaving [AW]
Slithering through the undergrowth, Talena’s eyes were solely focused on the plump rabbit that sat in the small clearing, grooming itself in the largest patch of sunlight that managed to shine through the trees. Tension built in the female wolf’s body, she could feel adrenaline thumping through her veins as she shifted slightly, her lavender gaze never leaving her target as she readied herself to pounce. For a few moments, she remained where she was before finally lunging from her hiding place and tearing across the short distance towards the prey. As soon as she felt she was close enough, she leapt forward and was fortunate enough to land her mark, her paws hitting the smaller creature and pinning it down. However, actually killing it was another matter.
As Talena urged her canines forward to deliver a killing bite, the rabbit had given a powerful kick that landed in the center of her nose, forcing her back in surprise. The sudden shock caused her to loosen her grip, giving her prey the perfect opportunity to squirm out of her grasp and dart off.
The young she-wolf sat back in annoyance, watching the rabbit scamper away until it had disappeared from her view. ‘God damn it’, she thought, lip curling in irritation. Talena saw no point in chasing after it, in all honesty, she couldn't quite be bothered with dirtying her fur and it wasn't like she couldn’t capture a meal later in the day. Giving her nose a slight wriggle, Talena decided to return to an activity which she was far better at and required less energy - relaxing.
Picking herself up, Talena trotted further into the area until she reached a group of trees. Feeling content with the spot, she lowered herself onto the cool earth and laid beneath the shade of the foliage. This place felt foreign to her and well, it was. Despite being a Heir to the Fall pack, she had never quite ventured further than the main camp. She didn't really know why. The she-wolf knew she wasn't scared, however, she’d always found herself stopping at the border, never quite straying from it. It angered her, she wanted to see more than what her family had to offer, but every time she went too far, there had always been a surge of guilt. Guilt that she was betraying her duties as Heir, that she was giving up her position But none of that mattered anymore, did it? She had nothing now. She was nothing to no one. She had no duties but to herself. It was like she was born to leave that place.
With a soft huff the lavender gaze of the female scanned the area before muttering to herself, “Where the hell am I?”

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Rayne wouldn't get enough of her duties as a patrol wolf. She liked to engage herself in chase and capture. She remembered that her favorite game as a pup had been capture the flag. She wouldn't always win, because someone is always better, but she did learn a thing or two from each loss. Today, she didn't expect much to happen. No game to thrill her, to rise her blood. She would rather have the day off at this point, but she wanted to make a run through the forest to ensure no pests had made their way across the border.
As she trotted through the trees, Rayne caught whiff of an unrecognizable scent, her fur rising, blood pumping. She slowed her wake and emerged from the bushes before her to find a wolf resting on her turf. She smelled...very much the same as Silas had. Perhaps she didn't have a pack either. But Rayne had taught Silas for her necklace. Was this female a trick too? "You're on my turf." She growled. "Why are you here?"

Talena's ears perked at the sudden sound of someone emerging, gaze quickly landing on the female before her. She simply peered at her for a moment, not even bothering to move as the stranger growled. "You're on my turf. Why are you here?" Her ear flickered in annoyance for a moment before she raised herself up into a sitting position. "Now that's not a proper greeting," She retorted. "I'll state my business when you learn some manners." There was no reason for this female to get so bitchy and Talena sure as hell wasn't the type of wolf to be pushed around.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Rayne immediately went into mock version of submission by sitting down with her left paw raised, ear flat as she rolled her eyes at the demanding female before her. "Oh, you highness, I'm so sorry. I shall take more care with my words, My Lady" She rose and took a couple steps closer to the female, grinning. "Happy?" She would have approached things a different way, but Rayne treated all trespassers the same. They were, to her, almost as low as a servant. Growing up, Rayne had to learn that you could trust no one in a war filled with greed and deceit. That was why she treated the female as she did-because no matter how hard she could try to convince herself otherwise, there she wouldn't trust anyone except her Guardian. Even if she had a like mind with Myra, Rayne enjoyed being alone.

"Oh, your highness, I'm so sorry. I shall take more care with my words, My Lady"
Talena eyed the female in annoyance as she clearly faked being submissive. If she thought this was funny, and it appeared she did by the way she was stupidly grinning, she was wrong. "I would have been happy with a simple 'Hello there,'" She snorted. "But you just went and embarrassed yourself. So yes, I suppose I am happy." A grin crept back onto her features and a small giggle escaped from her maw at the comment. It was amusing to see how quickly this stranger had submitted and it got the tawny female wondering if she was even worth her time.
After a moment of thought, Talena huffed softly and rose from her sitting position, allowing her long legs to stretch out before turning her attention back onto the darker female. "I suppose you want to know my business now, but I hate to break it to you sweetheart, it's not nearly as juicy as I'm sure you're looking for. You see, I'm simply relaxing. Nothing more, nothing less."

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Rayne felt genuinely confused at first. "Embarassed?" She had done what she did to spite this high horsed female and she claims Rayne was embarrassing herself? She didn't quite understand at all. She watched the tawny female as she rose and stretched. Rayne didn't budge from her spot, still wondering what she was supposed to be embarrassed about. When Talena refused to give what her actual business was, Rayne narrowed her eyes, frowning. "Thank you captain obvious. Surely you are here for a reason." Then as a little add on, " We are at war, honey. Best skiddatle back to mommy cause you look lost." Rayne felt that if this female was here just to enjoy the weather, then she was wasting her time. Rayne wanted to relax today but she supposed her job was something she would never get a break from.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Talena smirked proudly as the female became confused at her words, but she didn't respond. If this girl couldn't see how submitting themself, even as a joke, was embarrassing then it wouldn't be worth her time to explain. She had better things to do than sit around and try to get a lowlife up to her level of royalty. "Thank you captain obvious. Surely you are here for a reason. We are at war, honey. Best skiddatle back to mommy cause you look lost." Her brows furrowed at this comment. Lost? Hah! Though this land was completely new to her, she sure as hell didn't feel lost. She felt free. Free to do what she wanted, when she wanted.
Talena took a couple of steps towards the stranger, her head held high with pride as she approached. "There you go again with your poor manners," She spat out with a roll of her eyes. "Maybe it's you who should go crawl back to their 'mommy'. Clearly, she didn't teach you the lesson of 'if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.'" By now she had come practically nose to nose with the other female, though she showed no sign of wavering from her position. Was she wrong to be acting this way on a stranger's territory? Perhaps. But did she care? Not in the slightest.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Rayne growled but surprised herself when she didn't draw her fangs when the female came nose to nose with her. "Who do you think you are, huh? Princess of all manorism?" She snorted, hard. Boogers might have gone flying..."I am Rayne Gray, Patrol of the Spring pack." She huffed. "And you...you must be Princcess Manner for all your demand for manners." She bumped her nose with her own. "Get, pest, the Guardian wouldn't even like you here." Part of that was a lie. Sköll and her Guardian demanded respect and Rayne knew that, but she wouldn't share that with this female. Nope, she would rather respect a Wraith than this bitch.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
The tawny female's smirk only grew bigger as the darker female became more and more angered. Was she really being that agitating? No... This female was just easy to upset and Talena loved every second of it. "Ah how kind of you to think I'm a princess! At least we know your eyes work properly." She batted her eyelashes and raised a paw to her own chest in fake gratitude. It was clear this stranger didn't mean princess in a good way, but Talena could give two shits less. Being called a princess was always a compliment in her mind.
"Get, pest, the Guardian wouldn't even like you here." Her eyes narrowed as her nose was bumped and she was snorted at. Really? She wanted to act like this now? Talena pawed at her own snout as if she was wiping off water, her ears glaring at Rayne in disgust the whole time. "Well, Rayne," She sneered, making sure to add extra emphasize onto her name, "Why don't you go get your Guardian and we can hear that from them, hmm? Are you really that pathetic of a Patrol that you can't deal with a little trouble on your own?" By now all Talena wanted to do was scream at this bitch that she was a Heir, and therefore, held more power over her. But no, that would ruin her whole plan and if she was being honest, it wasn't worth the hassle.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Meanwhile....
A black wolf with pale purple markings made her way through the forest. She was on patrol while Rayne took her day off. The Guardian had informed the she wolf that something had happened in Ramblewood Forest and the lady made it her duty to scout the Woods in search of the event she expect would unfold before her at any moment. Two Guards flanked her in case she needed them for back up.
What event she had expected was something not at all in the category she was assigned to. She had come to a clearing just in time to find Rayne and another female, who she quickly noted wasn't of Spring, arguing with each other. At first, she didn't expect to see one of the best Patrol wolves to be doing such a thing. Second, who was this stranger wolf and why was she here? "What's going on here?" Her voice demanded obediance, the two males beside her growling or grunting as they moved to take positions in the event something happened to attack their current leader.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
A new scent quickly entered the area and Talena glanced away from Rayne to notice a female and two males approaching. "Great.. the whole gangs here now." She grumbled to herself under her breath as they neared closer. The males quickly moved into position and growled, only causing her to roll her eyes in response. She wasn't here to start a fight. "My relaxation is being interrupted, that's what's going on here." Her words came out very agitated and by now she was beginning to show signs in her stance. Was it really so hard to find some peace and quiet?

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Rayne snarled at the female when she retaliated with a mockery of her own. "Why you little-
A strong voice demanded an explanation. If Rayne had been a coward, you might of had the pleasure of seeing her jump at such a dominant voice. At first...she thought it was her Guardian, but when she looked, it was a fellow Patrol wolf and two Guards.
Rayne hadn't expected one of her own to interfere with the situation. As angry as she was, she just wanted the tawny female to leave and Rayne could get back to her day. But as soon as she realized who it was, the female bit her tongue before she she could snap at her. "Keala..." she tilted her head, momentarily forgetting the female she had been snarling at before. "What are you doing here?"

Re: born for leaving [AW]
At first, the female ignored the strangers words, addressing Rayne with a cast down tone. "Show some self control. The Guardian said the might be an incident out here...." she sat down sighing as though she had seen something like this more times than she cared to remember. "I didn't think it would be something like this..." Then she turned her attention to the stranger, narrowing her eyes as she took in the females form. "You planned to relax in a territory not your own?" She found that amusing and absurd. "The least you could do to save so much unnecessary drama is relax anywhere but here." She pointed her nose in the direction of the Namless Lands. "The Nameless lands seem like a good place for you, now run along." She wanted things to get back to being peaceful. She went the firm yet blunt way to handle the situation.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Talena couldn't help but smirk as this new female put Rayne in her place. It was about time that girl learned her place, and while Talena would have loved to teach it to her herself, having someone from her own pack do it was probably more effective. The two spoke for a couple of moments before the attention was turned back onto the tawny female and the fun was taken away."You planned to relax in a territory not your own? The least you could do to save so much unnecessary drama is relax anywhere but here. The Nameless lands seem like a good place for you, now run along." Her eyes narrowed at this. "I have no pack, I'm a loner." She spat out suddenly. It wasn't the truth, but these girls didn't have to know that. "But as Rayne said earlier, there's a war going on. And since I have no allegiance, and I assume you guys wish to win, don't you want all the help you can get?" The same smirk from before reappeared at her lips. If these guys were so serious about this war thing and wanting peace, turning down an ally would be ridiculous. Then again, if that's what they chose, it was their loss and Talena would put herself to use elsewhere.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Rayne ashamed by the dark females informance. She had forgotten that the Guardian could foresee events to a degree which often meant that he where something had happened but not the details, just whether it was good or bad. Think a fortune teller that often just says you are destined for something but she will never tell you what it is. Rayne had forgotten such an important detail and bowed her head in compliance. She had to swallow her pride, or she may here it from the Guardian and she knew well what unpleasantries would have awaited her there.
As Keala mentioned that stranger head for the nameless lands, Rayne didn't quite expect the response this stubborn she-wolf had given them. Despite her snippy tone with Keala, Rayne wanted to know why the she wolf was suddenly so interested in being an ally. "What brought that on all of a sudden?" She asked, skeptical of the idea. She growled, smelling something fishy. Her instincts began to scream at her-or was she blind with the threats war constantly plagued in the world of Canin? The fact of the matter was that they did need wolves. Spring would be coming soon and the Guardian might have appreciated new soldiers. Rayne would keep her eyes peeled for any trouble this snake would muster. In the end, Rayne and Keala didn't have a say in the matter. They would have to bring this stranger to the Guardian for an answer. Rayne smiled at the idea. At least something good would come from this encounter: Rayne would have a present for her Alpha.

"What brought that on all of a sudden?"
Talena glanced at Rayne, an almost blank expression covering her features. Was she being serious? Her intentions seemed pretty clear from what she had said, but maybe this female really was too dumb to get that. "It's a simple game of life. When war breaks out, I want to be on the winning side, not buried ten feet underground." Her ear flickered for a moment before she continued on. "If you would have been more pleasant in our first couple moments of meeting, you would have known this information already and there would have been no need for this whole backup ordeal." To be honest, Talena wasn't sure where this whole lie would take her, but it was sure to be interesting.

Rayne gave the female a look. "It would have made more sense if you hadn't gone into a territory you didn't know. What if a warrior came and didn't care whos side you were on?" She shrugged. "I mean, if you you are all about the risk, fine. But like you said, its a time of war and some of the wolves in this world don't give a damn about someone trying to sunbath. They would just kill you." Rayne knew that there were some wolves out there, even in her own pack that were bloodthirsty and didn't care who the wolf was. In some cases, it could have been their own who they unfortunately mistook as an enemy. She had glanced at Keala and she could see that the dark female seemed on her side this time; even the males sat down, the truth of her words in their eyes.

As the grey female continued to nag on and on, Talena couldn't help but find herself losing interest. "It would have made more sense if you hadn't gone into territory you didn't know. Her ears swiveled to the side as her gaze wandered around the area, not bothering to pay attention to what was really being said, but instead watching as a few songbirds flew past in the distance. They seemed to carefree.. she wanted to follow after them, not get lectured.
With a heavy huff and another moment of pause, her lavender orbs rested back onto Rayne. "Fine, whatever, you make a valid point." She gazed at the others, her eyes wandering on the males for a moment before returning back to the female. "But I'm afraid I've lost interest in you Spring wolves." As she spoke, Talena began to turn away from the group. "So, with that, I can't say it was a pleasant meeting, but do take care." And with a flick of her tail and one last grin, she began to pad away from them proudly.

Re: born for leaving [AW]
Rayne snorted, thinking the lady was stupid for assuming Rayne would let her go without another word. "You were welcome to begin with." she snarled as the girls back. She sat down. Perhaps an ally would have been useful, but by Kealas face, Rayne knew she was giving the girl a pardon. Perhaps it was the only pardon she would get. Deep down, however, Rayne felt she could have done better and still taken her as a prisoner. When she questioned Keala, the dark female didn't reply, only turned to return back to the way they both knew was home. Then it seemed to hit her. "Home..." she said the world lightly as she continued to watch the girl. She didn't knew if she would turn around and beg to stay, or pick a fight with the patrol wolf. Either way, Rayne would think it was because she was looking for a place to stay. Home meant that she would be safe. Rayne hadn't given her a chance to explain her true reasons for being here. Fear had blinded the female into hostilities. Guilt tore at Rayne as though someone had bit her, but she knew it may very well too late to change what she had already done. She didn't even know her name...
As they say, first impressions are very important.
